Coastal waters will be closed for swimming, diving and surfing from Laguna Beach’s Treasure Island beach to Aliso Viejo’s Table Rock because of a sewage spill, Orange County health officials announced Tuesday.
What happened: A sewer main line broke near Laguna Niguel Regional Park, spilling around 465,000 gallons of sewage. While the line has been repaired, officials have closed the waters to conduct water quality tests.
“I urge Orange County residents, visitors, and tourists to heed public health experts’ warnings and continue avoiding the closed beaches in Laguna Beach while the Health Care Agency conducts water quality tests,” O.C. Supervisor Katrina Foley said in a statement.
