Institutional Giving
Grants provide funding not only for general operations but also for LAist internships, engagement, events, capital projects, and news coverage of broad topics, such as education, health, and the environment.
Grants support more specific issues or newsroom projects as well, such as our Voter Game Plan, immigration, mental health, early childhood development, military and veterans, economic security and advancement, and general assignment reporting.
In addition, grants are a primary means by which the organization develops and tests new programming and initiatives. For example, the Institutional Giving team is currently seeking funding for Project Next, a forward-thinking initiative that will improve how our fact-based journalism is produced (modernized systems, new tools and workflows) and discovered (social video storytelling, personalized curation).
