Coming off of her recent sold-out concert at the BroadStage, soprano Golda Zahra returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall for Pacific Music Festival’s gala “Opera Forever!”

Marking 100 years since the passing of Giacomo Puccini, Pacific Music Festival presents “Turandot” in concert on Friday, Aug. 16. The ensemble includes 200 performers, including The Opera Choir of Los Angeles, the Han China Opera Conservatory of Music, and The Dream Orchestra led by maestro Daniel Suk

Called “a rising star of the opera world” by the Hollywood Times, Golda Zahra grew up in Los Angeles and moved to Italy to study privately with opera masters like renowned soprano Barbara Frittoli. She will make her professional role debut as the character Liu in Puccini’s opera masterpiece “Turandot.

Set in China, “Turnadot” follows Prince Calaf and his quest to win Princess Turnadot’s hand in marriage. To do so, he must solve three riddles. A wrong answer results in certain death.

“I am incredibly excited and grateful to return to Walt Disney Concert Hall,” said Zahra. “’Turandot’ is one of my favorite operas and Liu is one of my favorite roles. This is going to be a magical evening with operatic artists from all over the world, and it’s truly a full-circle experience.”

“Turnadot” features one of the most well-known arias in all of opera, “Nessun dorma,” which tenor Luciano Pavarotti especially made famous with his performance before the 1990 FIFA World Cup Final in Italy. The song became Pavarotti’s signature aria as well as a sporting anthem in pop culture.
