Composer Lyle Workman got his start in music playing in rock bands in Northern California in the 1970s and ‘80s. Eventually, a move to Los Angeles brought him the opportunity to move from session guitarist to commercial composer to writing music for film and TV.

His first job was for the 2001 film, “Made,” starring Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn. That assignment opened the door to working with Judd Apatow, first on the film “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” and several more projects after that.

Their collaboration continues with Apatow’s Netflix series, “Love.” The show stars Paul Rust and Gillian Jacobs as a couple struggling to navigate a relationship in Los Angeles.

Frame producer Michelle Lanz recently spoke with Workman about his composing process for the show.

The soundtrack for "Love" featuring Lyle Workman's music is available now on Lakeshore Records.
