The question, "will El Niño help or hurt California" is a tough one.
On one hand, it'll likely bring a ton of rain between January and April. On the other hand, most of that rain will be concentrated to Southern and Central California... which coincidentally have nothing to do with where we actually source our water from, which is further North.
It's looking more and more like El Niño will visit us this year, but what does that mean for the drought? And what sort of impact will the weather pattern have on other places around the world?
Bill Patzert, a climatologist with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, joins A Martinez in the studio to talk about the issue.
