The U.S. Forest Service Thursday said 53 structures including 24 residences were destroyed by the Powerhouse wildfire near Palmdale in northern Los Angeles County. Dennis "Pop" Immel is a resident of Lake Hughes. He spent the night protecting his home. "I was running around going from section to section, and hosing and putting hot spots out," said Immel. Several of his neighbors homes are gone.

Update on the Powerhouse Fire

The Powerhouse Fire in the Angeles National Forest has burned nearly 30,000acres and destroyed six homes. Thousands of people have been evacuated and in some areas the fire has been fueled by brush that hasn't burned in 74 years. There are also other smaller fires burning throughout Los Angeles County.
