'Moral Tribes': What does being moral mean to you?
How do you know when something is not just a bad idea; it's morally wrong? Do you consult a philosopher, talk to a priest or rabbi? Maybe just check in with the old magic 8 ball?
Most of us don't go to all these lengths. We just know what's right and wrong. Through a "Me vs. Us" and "Us vs. Them" lens, Josh Greene's book "Moral Tribes" takes a look at the ways in which neuroscience and evolution guide our moral decision-making process.
Guest: Joshua Greene, author of "Moral Tribes: Emotion, Reason and the Gap Between us and them." Greene also runs the Moral Cognition Lab at Harvard.
You can hear Greene discuss more about this subject tonight at our Crawford Family Forum. He'll join KPCC science reporter Sanden Totten for a conversation at 7 p.m. Click here to RSVP for free.
