Legendary pitcher Dock Ellis focus in 'No No: A Dockumentary'
In 136 years of baseball history, only 276 no-hitters have been recorded — one of them by former Pittsburgh Pirate pitcher Dock Ellis, who claims he did so high on LSD.
Ellis' extraordinary career is the subject of a new documentary called "No No: A Dockumentary."
"He was known for being somewhat flamboyant," says Jeff Radice, director of the film. "He referred to himself as the Muhammad Ali of baseball, was very stylish [in] his clothing and somewhat outspoken about civil rights."
If you've never heard Ellis' account of his no-hitter, then check out this video illustrating his narrative. The audio is taken from an interview with NPR's Weekend America in March 2008. Ellis died that year in December.
