Judge rules to 'discard' frozen embryos in divorce case
A scientific researcher handles frozen embryonic stem cells in a laboratory, at the Univestiry of Sao Paulo's human genome research center, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on March 4, 2008. Brazil's Federal Supreme Court will decide tomorrow on the continuity of the embryonic stem cells research, after Roman Catholich church officials and anti-abortion groups urged to ban it, as the stem cells extraction entails the destruction of the embryo. Superior Court Judge Anne-Christine Massullo ruled that the frozen embryos must be thawed and then thrown out.
