The face of Coachella Valley High School just got some work done.
The Arab has been the school's mascot since the 1920s - a reference to the region's historic reliance on Middle Eastern crops such as dates.
The original mascot had a large, hooked nose and was sporting a beard and a snarling expression.
But last November it came under fire when the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee complained the mascot was stereotypical.
Last month, school officials retired the old mascot and, this week, they've unveiled its new look.
With more is Darryl Adams, Superintendent of the Coachella Valley Unified School District.
