Children and Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes used to be called adult-onset diabetes but more and more young people – children - are getting diagnosed with it.  A key reason is that more children are overweight as they head into their teens. 

Recently KPCC's Elizabeth Aguilera profiled a family struggling with Type 2 diabetes that struck three generations - the grandmother, mother and daughter.

That's not at all uncommon in Los Angeles, especially in poor Latino and African-American communities. Elizabeth Aguilera joins A Martinez  for more.
