In California's Stanislaus County, Almonds are king — bringing in a record-breaking $1.125 billion in gross income in 2013.
Americans eat 10 times more almonds than they did in 1965, and their consumption is still growing. But, is the holy grail of healthy snacks hurting more than it is benefiting people?
Almonds are the highest grossing crop in California's Stanislaus County.

In California's Stanislaus County, Almonds are king — bringing in a record-breaking $1.125 billion in gross income in 2013. Walnuts came in third (after the county’s other powerhouse, dairy), reports Lisa Morehouse:
