The world of film lost two icons recently. Christopher Plummer, well known for his role in “Sound of Music,” died last week. And the French Oscar-winning screenwriter Jean-Claude Carriere passed away earlier this week. FilmWeek critics Lael Loewenstein, Peter Rainer and Wade Major share their thoughts on both their careers. Plus, we discuss the backlash surrounding Variety’s apology to Carey Mulligan after the actress spoke out against a portion of a critic’s review of her film “Promising Young Woman,” which she felt focused on her physical looks and appearance.
