Polls closed at 8pm last night, ending a highly anticipated election. Here’s what we know.
As predicted, Democrats regained control of the house while Republicans maintained Senate majority. In California, Gavin Newsom will be the next governor and Diane Feinstein will keep her senate seat, defeating Kevin de León.
The state’s ballot measures had some notable victories and defeats. California voters passed a measure on paramedic break time, a proposition mandating new regulations for confinement of livestock animals, and a measure embracing year-round Daylight Saving Time. Voters rejected the repeal of the gas tax as well as Prop. 10, the rent control measure.
California has 30 days to count the ballots and verify votes.
