Best known as the anchor of the PBS program The NewsHour and as a frequent presidential debate moderator, Jim Lehrer has a new novel out, Super. The murder mystery focuses on a time in America when railroad trains such as the Santa Fe Super Chief were the principal method of transcontinental travel. Larry talks with Lehrer about his 40-plus years in journalism, changes in the news business and the art of writing fiction.

Jim Lehrer will read from and discuss his new novel “Super” tonight at 7:30pm at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The event is free, but advance reservations are recommended.

He has moderated 11 presidential debates, including the most recent one between John McCain and Barack Obama in 2008. He is the author of 20 novels, two memoirs and three plays.
