Sleep Disorders In Children
Almost seventy percent of children aged ten and under experience some type of sleep problem. Many parents may not be aware that children, like adults, have sleep disorders that can be treated. But how do you know if your child’s sleep problem is a passing phase or a disorder that needs medical attention? As a part of KPCC’s ongoing Health Dialogues series, Larry Mantle discusses the complexity of diagnosing and treating sleep disorders in children. Joining him is Dr. Daniel Lewin, Director of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, Children’s National Medical Center in D.C., and Dr. Thomas Anders, Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, U.C. Davis M.I.N.D. Institute.
