The self-proclaimed "sex kitten" entertained fans with her singing, dancing and acting into her seventies. She won two Emmys and was nominated for several Tony awards and two Grammys. In addition to her high-profile work on the stage and screen, Eartha Kitt was also active in the civil rights and anti-war movements in the 60's and 70's. She died yesterday of colon cancer at a hospital in Connecticut at age 81.
