Peace talks in war-torn Darfur are facing further setbacks with a recent resurgence of violence. The U.N. and African Union have failed to organize meetings between warring factions from the Sudanese government and rebel forces since last fall. The Lybian peace conference fell apart in late 2007, and the A.U. reports little progress since then.
