The United States Senate voted today on the Constitutional Amendment to Ban Gay Marriage. The final vote was 50-48, 10 votes shy of the 60 needed to keep the bill alive. Supporters of the amendment insist that the move to ban gay marriage is not dead, and it remains one of the most contentious political issues of the election season.
