In the month since we last checked in with LAPD Chief Charlie Beck, a federal judge lifted oversight of the department, which had been in place since 2001 following the Rampart corruption scandal, a symbolic gesture that tipped its hat to the LAPD’s strides in cleaning up its conduct.
