That’s one description of the redistricting of California’s Senate, Assembly and congressional districts: The group of citizens charged with redrawing California’s district lines is slated to release its first draft maps today. The 14-member California Citizens Redistricting Commission, established by voters under Proposition 11 in 2008, has convened more than 20 public hearings as part if its effort to draw the new legislative and congressional district boundaries. The commission has until mid-August to turn in the final drafts. But we’ll take a look at the new lines and their implications. Might they reduce political gridlock, as hoped? How will incumbents and candidates be impacted?
