Journalist M.G. Lord’s father, a rocket engineer, worked at JPL in Pasadena in the late 1960s, a fascinating time in the history of space exploration. Her father’s work fascinated her as a child, and Lord ended up reporting on JPL as an adult. Her book, Astro Turf: The Private Life of Rocket Science (Walker), looks at the behind-the-scenes history of JPL from its beginning in 1936 to the Martian rover landings in 2004. M.G. Lord joins Host Larry Mantle to discuss her book.
