More LA spots to try
  • The patience of L.A. fans of Southern-bred Chick-fil-A's hyped chickeny deliciousness has been tested over the past few months, as the much-touted location at the corner of Highland and Sunset remained under construction and prep for opening.
  • California became the first state to ban foie gras back in 2004, but the law will not be enforced until next year. In July 2012, "duck liver cannot be served throughout the state if the duck was force fed, which is the method used by duck raisers for the liver to become fatty," explains AHN. • Pie lovers, your day is coming: Sunday, September 18th is the 3rd Annual KCRW "Good Food" Pie Contest, and this year the event will take place at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Home cooks and pros will be submitting their entries in five categories for tasting and judging by a panel of local chefs and food writers (yours truly humbly included).
