KPCC and USC Annenberg are teaming up to present #FutureOfLocalNews, a virtual discussion series designed to explore strategies for ensuring a sustainable and inclusive future for local news in Southern California.

In partnership with academic and industry experts, the series will assess the changing news landscape across communities and “news deserts” as well as innovative approaches, collaborations, business models and strategies for deepening public engagement.

Tuesday, August 4, was the first installment moderated by KPCC’s chief content officer Kristen Muller and featuring the director of the USC Annenberg Media Center Christina Bellantoni, Univision and Washington Post writer and columnist León Krauze, and New York Times journalist and author Erin Aubry Kaplan.
