Laurie Anderson is a writer, director, composer, visual artist, musician and vocalist who has created groundbreaking works that span the worlds of art, theater, experimental music, and technology. She will will appear in conversation with interviewer and cultural interlocutor Paul Holdengräber.

As a performer and musician, she has collaborated with many people including Brian Eno, Jean-Michel Jarre, William S. Burroughs, Peter Gabriel, Robert Wilson, Christian McBride and Philip Glass.

Anderson’s largest solo exhibition at The Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum in Washington D.C., titled The Weather (2021-2022), showcased the artist’s storytelling process through her work in video, performance, installation, painting, and other media.

A retrospective of her work opened in 2023 at Moderna Museet in Stockholm.

The inaugural event of the yearlong series featured internationally celebrated writer, artist and non-binary activist ALOK on Oct. 3, 2023. The dynamic lineup also included sociologist Ruha Benjamin (Nov. 20, 2023); the thought-provoking writer and progressive icon, Rebecca Solnit (Nov. 28, 2023); and visual artist Julie Mehretu (Feb. 21, 2024). Each speaker brings to the conversation their unique perspective and expertise, making for events that are intellectually stimulating and emotionally moving.

All conversations are open to the public at no cost, creating a space for diverse communities to join in the conversation and explore ideas together.
