Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. Learn more about a few of their stories.
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, but only 3 out of 100 people give blood. A diverse blood supply also is important to meet the needs of patients of all backgrounds. For example, blood donations from individuals who are Black are urgently needed to help meet the needs of patients with sickle cell disease.
The American Red Cross needs donors to ensure that blood is available to all patients throughout the year.
Eligible donors with Types O, B negative or A negative blood are encouraged to make a Power Red donation at this blood drive. Power Red donors give a concentrated dose of red blood cells during a single donation, allowing them to maximize their impact. During this type of donation, red blood cells are separated from other blood components, and the plasma and platelets are safely and comfortably returned to the donor.
