Go Fact Yourself is a pop culture trivia show hosted by J. Keith van Straaten (he/him) (Ask Me Another, Senior Writer) and Helen Hong (she/her) (Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me, recurring panelist).

On September 7, “Pod Save America” co-host and “Lovett or Leave it” host Jon Lovett (he/him) and actor/producer/choreographer Christine Lakin (she/her), plus other surprise guests, will join J. Keith and Helen for a trivia show like no other! Check back soon for more details.

Go Fact Yourself can be heard on LAist 89.3 on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and Sundays at 8 p.m.


ABOUT JON LOVETT

Jon Lovett is a podcast host, former presidential speechwriter, and straight shooter widely respected on both sides. In 2017, he co-founded Crooked Media, where he co-hosts “Pod Save America” and hosts “Lovett or Leave It,” two beloved podcasts that are very good. He made his reality TV debut and goodbye in the first episode of Survivor season 47. His first book, Democracy or Else, co-authored alongside his Crooked Media co-founders, was released in June 2024. Before Crooked, he served as a speechwriter in the Obama White House and for Hillary Clinton, co-created a comedy on NBC called “1600 Penn" (canceled after one perfect season), wrote for "The Newsroom" with Aaron Sorkin, and posted many perfect tweets before deleting the app forever.


ABOUT CHRISTINE LAKIN

Atlanta native, Christine Lakin is probably best known for her role as “Al” in the 90’s sit-com Step By Step. She exec produced and starred in the POP comedy, Hollywood Darlings alongside Jodie Sweetin (Fuller House) and Beverley Mitchell (7th Heaven). Christine has also appeared in dozens of films and TV shows such as Modern Family, Mothers Day, CSI, The League, Melissa and Joey, Valentines Day, Veronica Mars and You Again. You may have heard her voice in multiple roles on FOX’s Family Guy or in one of her hundreds of audiobook narrations, including the Bosch/Ballard series by Michael Connelly, in which she plays Renee Ballard. Christine is the recipient of numerous Earphones Awards for her audio work. Christine has also performed in several acclaimed theater productions, notably as Clarice Starling in the cult-hit Silence, The Musical (LADCC award). She has hosted shows for CMT, VH1 and E! as well as live awards shows such as the Burbank International Film Festival.

Ms. Lakin is a nominated choreographer, whose work has appeared in Westworld, True Blood, Schooled, The Goldbergs, You Again, and Parental Guidance. Most recently she’s been behind the camera, directing episodic television for Apple, Disney+ and ABC including The Goldbergs, High School Musical, The Musical The Series and Life By Ella.

 She hosts a “Step By Step” rewatch podcast with Stacy Keanan called Keanan and Lakin Give You Deja Vu, available on all platforms.


ABOUT J. KEITH VAN STRAATEN

J. Keith van Straaten is a content producer/writer for TV game shows, including The Hustler, Master Minds, Funny You Should Ask, and In the USA Today, and wrote trivia questions for Bally Sports. He was also a longtime senior writer on NPR’s Ask Me Another.

Previously, he wrote many of the games on GSN’s Chain Reaction and the iPhone trivia app Arena. He created and hosted the live matchmaking show The Fix-Up Show, as well as hosting What’s My Line? – Live On Stage and Comedy Central’s Beat The Geeks.

J. Keith has appeared on Best Week Ever, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Beverly Hills, 90210, and a deleted scene in Gilmore Girls.

As a journalist, J. Keith has written about COVID and comedy for the Los Angeles Times, points and miles for ThePointsGuy.com, and theatre for tdf Stages magazine.

J. Keith has two cats and is an avid Angels fan.


ABOUT HELEN HONG

A fan favorite on the hit NPR podcast Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Helen Hong also co-hosts the celebrity trivia game show podcast Go Fact Yourself. Helen's acting credits include roles on Never Have I Ever, Silicon Valley, the Jennifer Garner Christmas movie Family Switch, and 5 seasons of The Thundermans on Nickelodeon.

A long-time touring standup comedian, Helen's comedy special Well Hong was co-produced by Comedy Dynamics and Tribeca Film Festival, and is streaming now on Amazon Prime & Apple TV+. Audiences love Helen's lightning quick crowdwork which can be seen on her Instagram and TikTok @funnyhelenhong.

A breast cancer survivor, Helen makes light of her cancer experience (and her "fresh new boobies") onstage. She also brings light to Asian-American issues with her family's YouTube channel "Old Korean Dad Stories."
