KPCC hosted a membership event on April 29, focused on Combating Anti-Asian Hate.
Anti-Asian hate incidents are on the rise. Here in Southern California, the Asian-American communities have been holding anti-hate rallies and organizing safety walks through neighborhoods. KPCC/LAist Asian American Communities Correspondent Josie Huang was joined by Rep. Judy Chu, author and professor Erika Lee, Christina Yang of Asian Americans Advancing Justice Los Angeles, and Kelly Erickson of Hollaback! They discussed the history of anti-Asian racism in Los Angeles, how lawmakers are responding, and more immediately what you can do if you are targeted in a racially-motivated incident or witness one.
