Summertime is blockbuster season and we’re screening one of the biggest hits of the early 2000s. Join us for summer fun to watch “The Fast and The Furious” (2001) - the movie that revved up a prolific franchise that’s still cruising today. Stick around after the film as host Larry Mantle (he/him) welcomes special guests to discuss its lasting impact and hear how some of the thrilling race scenes were made.

We’re excited to present this screening in partnership with The Frida Cinema.

A high-octane action film that takes place in the underground world of illegal street racing in Los Angeles, The Fast and the Furious follows Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker), an undercover cop who has infiltrated a gang of racers suspected of hijacking trucks to steal valuable electronics. As Brian gets deeper into the world of fast cars and high stakes, he must balance his duty as a cop with his growing affinity for the gang's charismatic leader, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), and Dominic's sister, Mia (Jordana Brewster). A box office success that became a cultural phenomenon, the original Fast film's blend of thrilling action sequences, stylish direction, and cast chemistry set the stage for one of the most successful franchises in film history.
