FilmWeek is taking a road trip to Glendale for a special 35mm screening of the buddy comedy/drama Sideways. Come see Alexander Payne’s 2004 film, which follows Jack (Thomas Haden Church) and Miles (Paul Giamatti) as they embark on a chaotic road trip to Santa Barbara’s wine country to celebrate Jack’s impending nuptials. What ensues includes a lot of wine (but no Merlot!) and plenty of drama. It’s a rare chance to see it on the big screen with host Larry Mantle and hundreds of your fellow FilmWeek fans. After the movie, stick around for a discussion with Larry and actor Virginia Madsen, who stars as Maya in the film.
The fun starts at 6pm in The Alex Theater Courtyard. Everyone in attendance will be treated to a free pour of wine from The Hitching Post, which is featured in the film. Guests can explore the Lucid Gravity, an all-electric luxury SUV presented by Lucid Pasadena. And hear live jazz by pianist Amy Rowe courtesy of Pasadena Conservatory of Music. The “Sideways” screening starts at 7pm.
