Zócalo and its community partners throw a dance party that's emblematic of L.A.'s kaleidoscopic culture: "What does a diaspora move to, and what moves a diaspora? Which songs resonate with Belizeans from South L.A., South Indians from Cerritos, Arab Americans from Anaheim? Which Sublime song do zacatecanos in SoCal know all the lyrics to? Is Cher queen supreme in the Armenian communities of Glendale? And is Celine Dion fated to live on and on in every diaspora’s heart?" In addition to dancing, check out art activities by LA Commons and a pop-up Wilmington Art Walk. The first 100 guests to check in and get a wristband receive free food from local vendors Patties N Tingz, Dip Deez Paletas, L.A. Waterfront Pizza, The Atomic Cafe, and Shamrock Seafood/San Pedro Fish Market. Setting the sonic landscape are DJs Mario “Dred” Lopez from 4 to 5 p.m. and Raul Campos from 5 to 7 p.m.
