From MacMinute, here's news of an event in Britain that will integrate digital music into the drinking and schmoozing experience. At a club called Nambucca on London's Holloway Road, drinkers and dancers will be invited to submit iPods loaded with short playlists. Judges rate each contestant's choices and the winners take home prizes. The press release has all the details. (Still, LAist doubts that his personal musical obsession would go over well here. iTunes required for that last link.)People with iPods are exactly the kind of customers club and bar operators crave - they spend lots of money on "cool" stuff like fragile music players or bottles of vodka. Since, unlike Londoners, Angelenos have an important reason not to get blindingly drunk when they party, this idea could be a welcome addition to our scene. It sounds like a more painless version of karaoke.
