The strange saga of Darwin Vela, who was found on the Westside after disappearing while walking his dog four days ago, is raising more questions than answers as Vela now claims he was kidnapped.

Vela vanished while walking his dog in West Adams on Tuesday night. According to his fiancee, Kelly McLaren, the couple's dog returned 20 minutes later with blood on the leash. Authorities scanned the surrounding area for days before Vela flagged down a motorist at the 1200 block on Green Avenue, claiming that he was taken prisoner by as-of-yet unknown perpetrators, NBC4 reports.

Vela and McLaren were scheduled to testify against Ricardo Orozco, a convicted felon who is facing his third strike for breaking into the home of Christina Fulton, Nicolas Cage's ex-wife. Orozco allegedly stole items belonging to Cage's son, Weston.

McLaren has said that their testimonies are of paramount importance in the case against Orozco, but she invoked her 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination when she took the stand on Thursday, according to ABC7.

Furthermore, Vela, McLaren, and Orozco recently met with an attorney representing Charlie Sheen, claiming that they had knowledge of a sex tape involving the actor. The L.A. Times stated the attorney refused to correspond with them when they admitted they did not have the tape in question, but according to source close to ABC7, one of the items stolen from Fulton's house may include the tape.

As for what happened to Vela, we can only be sure that the case will become more intriguing as the investigation progresses.
