Yesterday was not only Veterans Day but the kick-off game for the NCAA season.

The Navy and NCAA came together to celebrate both veterans and basketball (despite the NBA lockout). The USS Carl Vinson (the aircraft carrier that buried Bin Laden at sea and, uh, hosted many sailors who liked synthetic pot) was transformed into the host for the Spartans of Michigan State University to face off against the Tar Heels from the University of North Carolina.

In this video you can watch the eight days of preparation it took to transform the carrier into a basketball court worthy of an audience of 7,000 that included basketball fan Barack Obama.

North Carolina trounced Michigan State 67-55, but both sides seemed pretty pumped just to be on the carrier on Veterans Day. "This is bigger than a game. This is bigger than Michigan State, UNC. It's a dream come true for us," said Tom Izzo, head coach for MSU.
