LAPD officers are searching for a gunman described as wearing a Star Wars-type mask for shooting and killing a man on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a spokeswoman for the LAPD, the shooting took place in Venice around 4:06 p.m. near the intersection of Brooks Court and 7th Avenue. According to the L.A. Times, the suspect is described as a black man between the ages of 25 and 30 wearing black pants and a black hoodie. Earlier reports indicated he was possibly wearing a Star Wars mask, but the spokeswoman for the LAPD told LAist she did not know which specific character the description was referring to.

The spokeswoman could not confirm to LAist reports that indicated the victim was an employee for a city of Los Angeles crew doing construction in the area. However, NBC 4 reports that an LADWP worker tended to the victim.
