Being reserved for emergencies, it's unusual for USC or any college for that matter to send out a text message alert to the students and staff. Loyola Marymount did it with great success after a student posted his threat to kill others on a blog and CSU Dominguez Hills had zero success when a student supposedly had a gun on campus.
Yesterday afternoon, something happened to a Department of Public Safety vehicle, per their alert:
The rear window of a DPS patrol vehicle was shattered by an unknown projectile at 1:01 PM near the closed Bethune Library located near W 37th St and Vermont. This is off campus. LAPD was notified and a search of the area was conducted. No weapons or projectiles were located. No injuries or current threat exists at this location or in the area. Witnesses did not report hearing a gunshot.
The area is cleared of police activity. Thank you for your cooperation.
Was it shot? Was it a rogue football?
