A tourist at the Hollywood And Highland Center is being treated this afternoon after being stabbed multiple times around his neck and face

The LAPD received a call about the attack at 1:11 p.m., Wednesday afternoon. The victim, who is a tourist, was being transported to a local hospital for treatment. "It was more than one stabbing... near the neck/face area," Officer Abskharon of the Hollywood Division told LAist.

The incident is currently under investigation and officers are working on identifying the attacker, who was only described as a male. Witnesses told KTLA that the victim was with his family in the courtyard of the shopping center when the attacker looked at the man's wife, leading to the confrontation.

Two bystanders, reported as off-duty NYPD detectives, detained the suspect until LAPD officers arrived to take him into custody.
