An early-rising attacker chased someone with a chainsaw and then tried to run others down with a truck before being taken into custody just after dawn Tuesday morning. ABC 7 reports that the incident occurred at an Edison storage facility in Torrance.

Torrance Police Sgt. Paul Kranke told ABC that the assailant may have been a subcontractor for a tree-trimming firm used by Edison. After arguing with the site's foreman, the assailant allegedly chased the foreman with a chainsaw before getting into a vehicle and trying to run people over. A security guard at the facility placed a call to Torrance Police at 6:30 a.m., and officers responded shortly thereafter.

Kranke told ABC that at one point during the incident officers opened fire on the assailant, but he was not hit by the gunfire. It’s unclear what exactly led to the shooting. The assailant was taken to the hospital for treatment after his arrest, and the foreman also sustained minor injuries.
