In a press release yesterday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced that Saturday night's potentially historic game featuring the New England Patriots visiting the New York Football Giants will be simulcast on the NFL Network, CBS and NBC. Yes, everyone will be able to watch this game now. This is the first time an NFL game will be simulcast since Super Bowl I.

Now isn't that magnanimous of good ole Roger? Seriously if it wasn't for the greed of the NFL, there would be no need for last minute deals such as this to happen.

The fact that the NFL wants to charge cable companies $0.70 per subscriber per month year round for a channel that shows eight NFL games, a couple of shitty college bowl games and non stop coverage of the combine and draft week is absurd. I could understand charging that much if the channel had to buy the rights for the games like ESPN (which charges $3.00/subscriber/month), but it's the NFL! They own the fucking rights!

By comparison CNN charges about $0.45 per subscriber per month.

To offset those costs, Time Warner wanted to put the NFL Network on a sports tier where the subscriber would have to pay a little more. The NFL balked at that, and here we are years later.

So fuck the NFL. Not only are they greedy, they are making me choose sides with an evil media conglomerate. So fuck them! But you can bet your sweet bippy that my ass will be watching that game. DAMN YOU NFL!

Oh. The Patriots are so going to win.
