Every year, the separately-owned Greek (Nederlander) and Gibson (Live Nation) amphitheatres get together to announce their season lineup with a program called the Premiere Marquee Club. The name is confusing, but basically it's a subscription program that offers perks depending on how many concerts you buy upfront (at a minimum, that's three shows). Over at the Greek Theatre, some of the shows announced today include The Allman Brothers Band/The Doobie Brothers, Tom Jones, Neko Case, Gipsy Kings, Bob Weir & Ratdog, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal. The always enjoyable A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor, which was at the Greek, then moved to the Hollywood Bowl, is now back. Officials with the theatre also say there are more shows to be announced.
The Gibson Amphithetre has a wide variety of programming from comedians to award shows to music. Of note, late-night talk show host Chelsea Handler will have her own night on stage as well as Polo Polo and Kathy Griffin. Two award shows, MTV Movie Awards and Teen Choice Awards, are being taped there. On the music side of things, there's Judas Priest, Whitesnake, Berlin, The Temptations/The Four Tops among others.
The Hollywood Bowl hasn't officially announced their summer season yet--they'll do that next week--but the season is already posted online.
