The Choking Dogs
LAist has been exercising caution with the Dodgers success all season long. Now it’s pretty obvious why. We are absolutely incensed that this is happening yet again. After last night’s 4-0 loss to the Padres, the Dodgers have turned a 6-game lead on September 11, to one-half game lead today. The Giants winning 9 of their last 10 hasn’t helped, but we are steamed that Jim Tracy’s bunch seems to find a way to blow it down the stretch.
Tracy is a great manager but his teams always find a way to tire down the stretch. It’s not necessarily his fault that Brad Penny is out for the year, but his management of the rotation has been questionable.
The fact of the matter is now the Dodgers must actually beat the Giants to make the playoffs. That would be a thrill for us if it could happen, but the Dodgers' recent track record is painful.
