Photos: Gander At A Lautner-Inspired Modernist Nirvana In Hollywood Hills

Our June member drive is live: protect this resource!
Right now, we need your help during our short June member drive to keep the local news you read here every day going. This has been a challenging year, but with your help, we can get one step closer to closing our budget gap. Today, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership.

Take a gander at 7187 Macapa Drive. Perched up in the Hollywood Hills just off Mulholland Drive, this John Lautner-inspired home seems almost worth the $1.755 million price tag.

As the listing describes, this 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home wasn't actually designed by Lautner himself. It was, however, designed by someone who spent a career building homes Lautner blueprinted. His name was George Deutsch.

Deutsch was a cabinet maker by trade who worked with Lautner's office regularly and on several of John Lautner's projects. Though Deutsch built a house Lautner designed a few doors down from this property, this particular house was entirely developed by Deutsch himself. Looks like he did a pretty good job on it.

The current owners seem to have the home set up like a physical manifestation of Pop Art. We're honestly not sure why the real estate listing doesn't have the phrase 'includes a Lichtenstein-inspired color palette.' That blue carpet (in the kitchen!) is, however, somewhat hard to forgive.
