Suspected Fatal Hit-And-Run Driver Returns To Scene With Mom And Arrested
The suspected driver in a fatal hit-and-run was arrested after returning to the scene of the crash with his mom.Two pedestrians, a man and a woman in their 50s, were struck around 10:15 p.m., Saturday night, at the intersection of La Brea Avenue and Adams Boulevard by a Toyota Sequoia. The truck was heading southbound on La Brea Avenue and did not stop for the two pedestrians a crosswalk.
Both were taken to a hospital where the woman later died. The man is recovering and last reported to be in stable condition. The victims were believed to be homeless.
The suspected driver, said to be a 20-year old man, was arrested after he returned to the scene of the crash. According to KCAL 9, police say the man panicked, went home and told his mom what happened, and was brought back to the scene by his mom. He was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
Police do not think drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
