Long Beach's Aquarium of the Pacific Pulls Ads from Rush Limbaugh's Show
Even the local aquarium is now refusing to stand by Rush Limbaugh for calling Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute" after she argued that contraception should be covered by health insurance.
Just this morning Long Beach's Aquarium of the Pacific sent out this tweet letting its followers know that it was looking to pull ads from a local affiliate that airs Limbaugh's show:
We are working with our media buying company to remove our ads from Limbaugh's show immediately. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
— Aquarium of the Pacific (@AquariumPacific) March 7, 2012
The aquarium was responding to Twitter users @subculturestuff and @HalloweenBlogs (and others, we're sure!), who have been contacting Limbaugh's advertisers and asking them to suspend their support for his program. Advertisers haven't been happy about Limbaugh's calling Fluke a "slut" or how he responded at first by doubling down and then later sort-of-but-not-really apologized.
