One Dead And Three Hospitalized Following Stabbing And Officer-Involved Shooting In Hollywood [Updated]
One person is dead and at least three have been hospitalized after an assailant who allegedly stabbed multiple victims was shot by police in Hollywood on Tuesday afternoon.
LAPD Officer Sal Ramirez told LAist that police received a call at about 2 p.m. reporting a stabbing with a deadly weapon at a Jack In The Box in Hollywood. Officers from Hollywood Division responded and upon their arrival they observed the suspect stabbing victims with a knife, "at which point an officer-involved shooting occurred," according to Ramirez. Ramirez said that the suspect was struck during the shooting and taken into custody. Ramirez did not know if the suspect was still alive. Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department told LAist that three people were transported to local hospitals and one person was determined dead at the scene.
The Jack In The Box is located on the corner of Sunset and Cahuenga Boulevard, in a busy section of Hollywood. This somewhat graphic video shows what appears to show the scene in the restaurant sometime after the shooting occurred:
