Police are on the search for a gunman who shot a security guard outside of a jewelry store in Chinatown today.

LAPD officers responded to a report of shots fired on the 800 block of North Broadway, near the corner of Alpine Street, around 11 a.m., according to City News Service. Officer Jane Kim told CBS Los Angeles that the security guard was shot in the arm. The guard's condition is unknown at this time but aerial footage of the scene showed him being treated by first-responders while standing up.

A spokesman for the LAPD told LAist it was unclear whether it was an attempted robbery, but images show shattered glass in front of the Kim Phuoc Jewelry store, located at 801 North Broadway.
