An Orange County cabdriver has been charged with raping a woman who rode his taxi, and prosecutors are concerned there may be other victims. Samy Hakim, 54, was driving for Huntington Beach Yellow Cab when police say he picked up an intoxicated woman in the early morning of November 18, 2014. She had been celebrating her birthday at a bar in downtown Huntington Beach, but lost track of her friends. So, she called a cab to take her to her apartment near Beach Boulevard and Warner Avenue. Investigators say Hakim picked the 36-year-old woman up in his taxi and drove her to her apartment, then raped her while still in the cab. Following the alleged assault, Hakim dropped the woman off and drove away. The woman went to the police later that day.

Hakim was arrested on July 9, and has been charged with one felony count of rape and one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object of an intoxicated person. If convicted, he may face 10 years in prison.

Anyone who believes they may also have been a victim of Hakim, or anyone with more information should contact the Orange County District Attorney's Supervising Investigator at 714-347-8794.
