Same-Sex Wedding Marathon Yesterday in WeHo
The city of West Hollywood held a marathon of marriages yesterday in West Hollywood Park, uniting 100 same-sex couples in the blistering heat. WeHo has jumped eagerly, and expectedly, onto the gay wedding bandwagon, hosting forums for discussing the legalities of marrying under the new law and reaching out to the public as a consumer beacon in a marriage marketing blitz. Not to rain on anyone's parade but The Long-Beach Press Telegram is calling the flood of same-sex couples tying the knot these days a "gay wedding spree" that might be swiftly curtailed if voters strike down the law come November. Meanwhile, here's to the brides and their brides and the grooms and their grooms.
