Rock Star is No American Idol Wannabe
OK, so summer TV is like a car crash on the 405. You really don’t want to slow down and look, but you do anyway. That's what happened to LAist when we happened to catch some of “Rock Star: INXS” earlier this week. (It was a toss-up between that and “Hell’s Kitchen” on FOX.)
Here’s the premise of Mark Burnett’s latest addition to his “reality” show empire: 15 wannabe rockers live in this Hollywood Hills manse and vocally compete for the spot to replace INXS front man Michael Hutchence, who died of auto-erotic asphyxiation in 1997. The winner of the show will eventually record an album and embark on a world tour with the band.
