'Price is Right' Host Barker Tells Costco Their Veal is Wrong
Warning: This video has some brutal footage of calves at factory farms
Former Price is Right host and longtime animal rights advocate Bob Barker has become the public face of a campaign to urge retailer Costco to stop selling veal produced under cruel conditions.
The national organization Mercy For Animals launched the campaign, which involved obtaining hidden camera video recordings at Buckeye Veal farm in Apple Creek, Ohio, the supplier used by Costco for the meat. The video shows "baby calves covered in feces and chained by their necks in narrow stalls, where they cannot even turn around or walk," according to a release issued by Mercy For Animals.
Barker held a news conference in Los Angeles yesterday to address the issue. Costco, the third-largest grocery chain in the nation, has been receptive to the wishes of the group, and says they will no longer source their veal from Buckeye.
